[ARCHIVED] Information Technology (IT) Strategic Plan & Update

City staff and Information Technology (IT) consultants presented an update on the status of the 10 phase IT upgrade overall, with a particular focus on an opportunity to accomplish phases 8 thru 10 related to fiber connectivity of facilities and infrastructure at a substantially reduced cost.

Specifically, phases 9 and 10 planned the need for a 3rd major site at the Hoover Met Complex.  Due to our negotiations of a franchise agreement earlier in the year, we are able to utilize that agreement to gain access to conduit along various right of way (ROW) paths to accomplish this and other connectivity, with an approximate 75% reduction in cost of conduit.

City staff presented this one-time opportunity to the City Council for consideration and approval of funding.

In addition, Brunson White presented his findings from the overall IT Strategic Plan and Assessment.
