For the past several years, Conservation Teams from the Access Fund and Corps. members from the American Conservation Experience (ACE) have partnered on the Moss Rock Boulder Field Restoration Project - an ongoing effort aimed at controlling erosion, improving trails, reforestation and improving conditions for rock-climbing.  Each year, work in the boulder field has been very successful with crews building large stone staircases and assorted erosion control features, closing social trails, expanding staging areas for climbers, planting hundreds of trees and removing an abundance of graffiti.  

This year, ACE Corps. members completed an eight-week long project that began in early March.  Corps. members worked eight and ten-hour days then tent-camped at night, at Oak Mountain State Park.  After improving several existing stone structures and trail sections in the boulder field, ACE expanded its outreach within Moss Rock, improving trail tread, re-routing trail sections, re-marking the entire trail system, clearing hazard trees, removing invasive plants, removing graffiti and planting trees.  The crew also built a much needed stone staircase, connecting the power line trail to the lower portion of Moss Rock's wildflower prairie which is located in the park's NE corner.
