Recreation

With some 30 parks and recreational facilities located in Hoover’s city limits, there are recreational opportunities for everyone.

If hiking or rock climbing is your thing, the 349-acre Moss Rock Preserve is the place to visit.  Veterans Park is a memorial park honoring our veterans, and is where 5K races are held almost weekly among the wide variety of other offerings. If sitting in nature and reading a book is an option, visit Aldridge Gardens.

The Hoover Met Complex, which is home to the SEC Baseball Championship, opened additional fields to host a variety of sporting events.  The recently completed, universally designed, inclusive EXPLORE playground and splash pad is a destination in itself.

For indoor recreation like swimming, group fitness or gymnasium activities, consider the Hoover Recreation Center.  The reasonable memberships are available to Hoover residents.

The City of Hoover acknowledges the importance of recreation on the quality of life for its residents and visitors, and places significant emphasis on providing opportunities to meet a variety of needs..
