E-Sports
Parents/Gamers,
E-Sports continues to gain popularity with children throughout the country. Instead of kids gaming in their bedrooms or basements at home the Hoover Parks & Recreation Department would like to offer an E-Sports Recreational Youth League where kids can game in a social environment and learn to work as a team. Same principles as a youth baseball or basketball league but applied to E-Sports. Weekly practices, games, coaches and working as a team. But we need your help. If you or someone in your household is interested please fill out the survey below. We will need at least 100 potential parents/gamers to fill out the survey below in order to offer an E-Sports Recreational Youth League. If we do not get enough interests we will not be able to offer the league in the Spring of 2021. Below is more details to the E-Sports League we would like to offer next Spring.

FAQs
WHERE IS IT?
All practices and competitions will be held at the Hoover Recreation Center gymnasium located at 600 Municipal Drive, Hoover, AL 35216. The gymnasium is located on the 2nd floor of the Hoover Recreation Center.
HOW ARE TEAMS SELECTED?
Players are welcome to play with their friends. If you have a friend or two or three who you would like to play with on your team please put their names in the comment section when you register. All teams of 4 players must supply their own coach.
For any players registering individually teams will be put together based on age. We prefer 9 and 10 year olds to be on the same team as other 9 and 10 years olds as opposed to 15 or 16 years and vice versa.
WHO ARE THE COACHES, AND HOW CAN I BECOME A COACH?
To be a coach, you must be at least 16 years of age and knowledgeable of gaming. Anyone can volunteer to become a coach. Please contact Brent Solberg at brent.solberg@hooveralabama.gov. or 444-7754 if interested. Coaches will be responsible for at least one team of 4 players. Coaches foster communication between players on the team, give out homework assignments, help improve their strategic objectives and guide the E-Sports experience..
